The missing watch of Patriarch Kirill. The Russian Orthodox Church apologized for the retouching of the photograph of the patriarch with a watch. The Patriarch's press service apologized for the "technical oversight" in the photo with the watch

The press service of Patriarch Kirill apologized for retouching a photograph of the primate of the Russian Orthodox Church, published on the official website of the Moscow Patriarchate, Interfax reports.

The day before, on April 4, bloggers noticed that in one of the photographs the watch on the patriarch’s hand was smeared, while its reflection in the polished table was preserved. We are talking about a photograph from 2009, in which Patriarch Kirill was photographed together with the head of the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation, Alexander Konovalov.

As stated in the press service, the gallery now presents the original photograph, where the watch is visible. The retouched image can be viewed.

The patriarch's press service emphasized that refusal to change the appearance of images in graphic editors is “fundamental.” “On what basis in this situation was a gross violation of our internal ethics committed - a question that will be examined very carefully, and the perpetrators will be severely punished,” said representatives of the patriarch.

Meanwhile, as journalists noticed, photographs showing the watch on his hand disappeared from a number of galleries on the patriarch’s website. Thus, the picture was removed from the same news about his meeting with the Minister of Justice. The illustration is available via direct link. In addition, photographs were removed from notes about Patriarch Kirill’s meetings with Turkish Ambassador to Russia Halil Akıncı, with Russian Defense Minister Anatoly Serdyukov and with US Ambassador John Beyrle.

Shortly before the retouched image appeared on the Patriarchate’s website, the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church, in a conversation with journalist Vladimir Solovyov, said that he had never worn a Breguet watch (presumably, they are the ones shown in the photographs).

For the first time, journalists noticed that Patriarch Kirill was wearing a watch, which cost about 30 thousand dollars, in 2009. Then the pictures were published by the Ukrainian press.

The Patriarch again with his watch:

“The press service of the Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus' apologized to users of the official website of the Russian Orthodox Church Patriarchia.ru for an error in processing the photo archive of 2009, which caused a wave of comments on social networks and some media, and announced the return of the photo in its original form. ... According to the message, the photo editorial staff made a “ridiculous mistake” when working with the photo archive.” http://ria.ru/religion/20120405/6185014 71.html

Yeah, a mistake. To cover up a watch in Photoshop with high quality, I need about 15 minutes. But I’m an amateur, the pros will do it faster, the main thing is that you can’t do it by accident by pressing a couple of buttons, it’s only deliberately and deliberately.

A complete disaster with PR in the Patriarchate.

In the story of the dusty apartment, the only way to gain publicity is to explain where the bill for 20 million for cleaning came from. Otherwise, see what Stanislavsky said there.

In the story of the clock, this is generally outrageous nonsense. If Kirill admits that they give him expensive watches, and he accepts such gifts, why bother with the fact that he wears them sometimes? Meaning? The fact that the Patriarch is given a watch - between us, it is very average in price in its segment - does not cause indignation. It’s clear who they’re talking to, it’s clear that for them it’s not money, it’s clear they can give it as a gift. But when, while admitting the fact of owning a watch, the fact of wearing it is denied, when the photoshop bullshit begins, this is a classic statement on the theme “something is burning in you.” The Patriarchate is stirring up a scandal with its own hands, and those who didn’t know now know: something is wrong with the patriarch’s watch.

By the way, about the slander campaign against Kirill - who did the slander here?

So, in the first case, explain, in the second, remain silent. They do exactly the opposite.

The day before, Vladimir Solovyov met with Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus' Kirill. What questions did the presenter ask the patriarch? How was the meeting? Vladimir Solovyov and Anna Shafran discussed this and much more with Vesti FM listeners in the “Full Contact” program.

Listen to the audio version:

Audio: Vladimir Solovyov met with the Patriarch of Moscow

Soloviev: The day before, I met with His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus'. The meeting took place in Chisty Lane, the working residence of the patriarch. There was a conversation. It was a great honor for me. At some point in time, just reading all the information that was coming in, I began to realize that apart from the questions that society asks (many fair and very tough questions), there are no answers to these questions. And society, not receiving answers, begins to invent these answers itself. However, the answers are very different. What are the 3 main accusations that are thrown at the Church? For example, the first thing is that the Russian Orthodox Church is an alcohol and tobacco label that weighs on the Church. Second: why does the patriarch have a watch worth 30 thousand dollars? Third: what is it with the apartment?

I didn’t ask about the tobacco and alcohol label because once upon a time, quite a long time ago, I dealt with this issue very seriously. And I know the background of the issue well, that is, there were no secrets for me here. I was just surprised that few people remember the wonderful interview that Alexander Pochinok gave in 2009, remembering those “valiant” times when the Decree of President Yeltsin was in effect since 1995, according to which the Church was given this terrible opportunity to cunningly import tobacco, alcohol and beyond manage money. But not many people understand that all these issues were directly under the control, oddly enough, both from the state and from the Church, in the hands of one very specific representative of the Russian Orthodox Church, so Pochinok, when he analyzed it later, said: very interesting that the Church itself did not receive anything from these schemes, but very specific intermediaries did, for whom this virtually duty-free trade in goods benefited. The church received crumbs on which it survived. And numerous sucker companies received millions of dollars.

For example, Kaluga Archbishop Kliment, who was appointed chairman of the commission on humanitarian aid of the Moscow Patriarchate, himself participated in the creation of the Peresvet commercial bank. And then it was a terrible scheme, when everything was imported through this tax-free corridor, from tobacco to six hundred Mercedes, while in official documents vodka was listed as wine, and Mercedes as an ambulance. And Alexy II, after 2 years, realized the depravity of this scheme of the Patriarchate, began to fight against it in order to abandon it. And not many people know that the supporter of a very hard line in rejecting this scheme was, of course, not the patriarch at that time, but then Vladyka Kirill. And Kirill went into direct conflict. At the same time, which is very important, he never publicly, anywhere or with a single word, tried to denigrate any of the people with whom he was in an irreconcilable battle. Because you can imagine what it’s like when a person appears inside the Church who says: no, we won’t do this. And it was precisely thanks to the position of Metropolitan Kirill, which was fully supported by Patriarch Alexy II at the time, that this scheme was stopped. Therefore, when Patriarch Kirill is now accused of those schemes, it is, politely speaking, to call white black, and black white. Because this terrible clash between Clement and Kirill could have happened, which could have ended in any way. And then, thanks to divine connivance and, of course, the support of Alexei II, Cyril’s point of view managed to prevail. And the Church abandoned these terrible and vicious schemes. But now they are trying to stick this label on the patriarch.

I did not ask the Patriarch these questions, because I knew that His Holiness had already covered this topic for quite some time to those who were interested. It’s just that, as often happens, our liberal press is not interested in knowing the truth, but really wants to scream. We talked about a lot of things. We talked about the problem of spirituality, we talked about the need for the Church to engage in missionary activities. Moreover, I am a Jew. We talked about the fact that, unfortunately, people who speak on behalf of the Church often do so horribly and cast a shadow on the very ideas of the Church, that, unfortunately, there are very few people like Daniil Sysoev in the public field. And I asked: “Your Holiness, what is this story with the clock?” When you talk with the patriarch, you, of course, enjoy his amazing Russian speech. The Patriarch, among other things, is a great missionary. And the way His Holiness speaks Russian, this classic St. Petersburg language, is a special pleasure. I regretted that there were no microphones and no way to record this conversation. I urgently asked the patriarch to consider the possibility, perhaps once a month, of having a conversation with him and showing it not early in the morning, as the patriarch’s broadcast is going on, but precisely in the conversation mode in the evening prime time, so that people hear and see, a lot will become clear. So, I asked: “What is this story with a watch for 30 thousand dollars?” The Patriarch was not in the attire in which they stand for service, but in everyday, but monastic attire. And the patriarch had a watch. He said, “Yes, I wear a watch. This watch was given to me by Dmitry Anatolyevich. This is our Russian watch, an inexpensive watch with a coat of arms - a small, neat watch. And when I saw that photograph,” says the patriarch, “I couldn’t relate in any way, because when we put on clothes for service, it’s impossible to put on a watch. It's impossible to wear a watch." And I looked at this photograph and suddenly realized - this is a collage. And the fact that they don’t wear watches to the service itself. “Yes, I don’t even know what kind of watch it is or how much it costs. But after this photo appeared, I went and looked. After all, many people come and give. And there are often boxes that you don’t open and don’t know what’s in there. And I saw that, indeed, there are Breguet watches, so I did not comment anywhere that the patriarch does not have such a watch. Because yes, there is a box with such a watch, never worn, and it is there.

I began to look with interest and horror to see how much the series of gifts they gave me cost. And when I saw it, I thought: where should I put them? That is, of course, you can re-gift them, but then what will they think of the patriarch? How does the patriarch live if he gives such expensive gifts? This then also casts a shadow. Therefore, of course, I didn’t buy myself any watches for 30 thousand,” says the patriarch, “and, of course, I didn’t wear the watch for any service, just like any other. But, yes, indeed, many give it as a gift, including watch. Refusing someone who brings a gift is also unethical. But he doesn’t use it either.” I say: “What happens to the property in general? What is the property of the patriarch?” He says that according to the canon, the property that a person had before serving, well, for example, his father’s apartment or a library, which was inherited, remains so, he can, as a citizen of the Russian Federation, bequeath it, pass it on by inheritance and other. “Everything that is given to me or acquired during my service as a patriarch, all this remains in the Church. That is, it is not my personal property." I say: “Are you a rich man?” He says: “Let me tell you about my apartment? Back in the days of Boris Nikolaevich Yeltsin, before the privatization apartment schemes, Vladimir Iosifovich Resin asked me: “Vladyka, where do you live?” At the same time, it should be noted that His Holiness very accurately conveys even the intonations of voices, which was somewhat unexpected for me. When you talk with His Holiness, you are surprised at how much his eye lights up, how alive it is, how deep it is. A feeling of rare pleasure in conversation. Time flies completely unnoticed. He says: “And Vladimir Iosifovich comes up and says: “Vladika, where do you live?” I say: “Well, where? In the same place as my predecessors. Here is Serebryany Bor, a wooden house. He says: “In this wreck, or what?” The Patriarch says: “What we have, we live in.” - “Well, let’s give you an apartment.” The Patriarch says: “I won’t do anything for this. Do as you see fit.” After some time, a resolution is adopted, Boris Nikolaevich signs and an apartment in a house on the Embankment is allocated. Vladimir Iosifovich Resin arrives and says: “Vladyka, this is the apartment, but you won’t live there.” He says: “Why?” - Resin: “Well, because in fact it’s not even an apartment, but an extension on the roof above. None of the apartments were originally planned, but someone once added something to the roof above.” I say: “Big?” He says: “Residential, 104, and general - 140 meters.” “I went up there and looked - there was a stunning view of the place where the Cathedral of Christ the Savior now stands. But the condition was terrifying. Just devastation." And Vladimir Iosifovich says: “But we built the first house here opposite the Sovetskaya Hotel back then, there’s a wonderful apartment there, but you have to pay for it.” - "How many?". Vladimir Iosifovich names the amount and the ruler at that time, now the Patriarch, says: “I can’t afford it.” Because it was a moment when there was no money to pay people salaries. He says: “There is simply no such money, so it’s not even worth continuing the conversation on this topic.” When the opportunity arose to privatize, he was told that you could privatize the apartment and the apartment was privatized. During all this time, His Holiness did not even spend a week of his life in this apartment, but since he moved to Moscow, he moved his father’s amazing library there. The patriarch's father is an amazing man who spent his salary on purchasing rare volumes. And he collected a rare library of many thousands. And in many ways, the brilliant Russian language and the patriarch’s mentality are so amazing - this is the merit of his father. Because His Holiness read, can you imagine, a child of 10-12 years old, and he reads philosophical works, amazingly published, there is a book from the 19th century. And how much does this influence the emerging intellectual power of a person. This library, as well as a number of pieces of furniture, were moved to a Moscow apartment. The Bishop’s two second cousins also went there, one of whom is now 65 years old, the other 55.

Here in a well-known publication on the website there is a photograph of a young attractive lady who accompanies the patriarch; this is a photograph twenty years ago, taken back in Smolensk. This is a photograph of Holiness's 65-year-old second cousin. They were all raised together. Such a big, good and patriarchal family, so even second cousins were all like part of the family. The Patriarch's sisters laid down their lives to serve and help His Holiness. That is, they help him in his ministry. And there they spend the night, there they live, there is some of their belongings. Suddenly - a call. My sister calls and says that we won’t be able to live in this apartment anymore. She says: “We can’t live in this apartment anymore.” He says: “What happened?” She: “It’s impossible to stay, after 10 minutes you start suffocating.” Holiness goes upstairs and sees how the whole apartment is covered not just with dust, but with the feeling that Hiroshima and Nagasaki - nuclear dust has covered everything. At the same time, the sister opens the door with her face covered. That is, she breathes through layers of gauze. After 10 minutes of being in this apartment, the bishop begins to choke. An expert examination is called and it turns out that the apartment below is being renovated. People clog the air ducts and begin to knock out all the space from the inside. It’s just that everything is being knocked out, all this construction suspension is being pulled up. When the builders come, they themselves are terrified - it’s some kind of nightmare, it’s horror. What to do? How is this possible? Need to do something. And the bishop honestly says: “Make it so that I have nothing to do with this. I don't want to get involved. Act as required by law. Now, my sister is registered in this apartment, so do everything that needs to be done according to the law. Call the Housing Office, call the Sanitary and Epidemiological Inspectorate, that is, everyone who needs to sort it out, please resolve the issue. Of course, I won’t get involved in any litigation myself.” So, I continue the story. Therefore, naturally, His Holiness could not and did not intend to enter into any further litigation, which was waged by the saint’s sister and representatives of the owner of the apartment. There is generally a very important moral and ethical point here. When you talk with the patriarch, every time you feel that he gives not just an answer, but that it is based on postulates, that is, it is always a non-random answer. It so happened that the apartment below belongs to Mr. Shevchenko. Mr. Shevchenko at some point in time was the Minister of Health under Boris Nikolaevich Yeltsin, then he decided to take a haircut and become a clergyman, but for this he went almost to Zhitomir, where he was ordained by a local bishop, after which this bishop was excommunicated a few months later face of the Church for pederasty. It's like a parallel story telling. Mr. Shevchenko after that decided that he would work as a clergyman, serve in his Center, he built a chapel and baptizes there, performs wedding ceremonies and all the necessary procedures there. But, it turns out, I didn’t know this; in the Russian Orthodox Church, a priest cannot just pick up and serve wherever he wants. That is, first he must take, say, in the army style, from the head of the local unit - from the bishop - an absentee certificate. And only by taking an absentee ballot, in this case in Zhitomir, can he move to the place of his new ministry and there, please, begin to fulfill his duties. This was not done. Therefore, de facto, due to the violation of these internal canonical laws, an investigation was initiated and all the necessary procedures were initiated to defrock the former Minister of Health, Mr. Shevchenko. This was before the housing dispute began.

At the same time, I do not give any moral and ethical assessments, I am not familiar with Mr. Shevchenko, I do not say good or bad, I am simply retelling the outline. Therefore, given that this kind of internal church litigation is going on, it was extremely inappropriate for the patriarch to meet with Mr. Shevchenko and discuss everyday issues, because this would be perceived as some form of either a deal or anything else, that is, the only option here was completely distance yourself from all these issues. Then - and I am in no way going to whitewash or blame either side - the decision was made by the court. That is, the trial lasted a long time, an examination was appointed. The most expensive part of the claim turned out to be restoration work, which can be done by the only institute in Russia to restore the library. It's really very expensive. Expensive equipment. The assessment based on the court decision was given by the institute that deals with this. No church structures had anything to do with this. The amount of the claim, based on these estimates, which were given by external structures, turned out to be very significant. And then, since Mr. loser refused to pay, the forensic experts begin to act accordingly. And from here the conversation began that - here, give away the apartment. Nobody is talking about any return of the apartment. We are talking about refunding the amount. At the same time, I ask the patriarch: “Why couldn’t you forgive?” He says: “This option has always been there, but it would also be incorrect. I tried my best: instead of double cleaning the books, I agreed to do an ordinary one, which saved a significant amount of money. Based on this, the amount of the claim was significantly reduced.” I say: “Where will the money you receive go?” He says: “Of course, everything is for charity. That is, part of it will go to the restoration of the library, all the remaining money, every penny, will, of course, be sent to charity, that is, not a penny of money will go to either the patriarch or his family.”

There was also a lot of talk about nanodust. Not a very good term. Of course, it would be much more accurate to just use the term “fine suspension.” Indeed, it was discovered that this was a finely dispersed suspension that had become ingrained, a kind of radioactive background. But, again, it was not the Church that gave these conclusions, these conclusions were given by independent institutions. How did it happen, what did it happen, where did it come from? And when they say: is it gold, that it costs so much money? No. But if you have a Ming dynasty bowl at home, which costs an insane amount of money, and a tennis ball hits it, the bowl breaks and you file a lawsuit, then you don’t say which golden tennis ball, you say which precious watch broke. The dust itself is not worth the money. But the damage caused to the unique library was estimated at a very specific amount. For the patriarch, this story is, of course, very painful. I’m extremely unpleasant, it’s been going on for a long time. The patriarch is trying to completely distance himself from her. What especially hurts the soul of the patriarch is that the souls do not try to figure it out, although the patriarch acts absolutely within the framework of the law. And the main thing is that for some reason they are trying to talk disrespectfully, with some strange hints, about his sisters, second cousins. And here, what’s curious is that the patriarch says: “That’s how differently women are structured!” You'll never guess who his sister is by education.

Saffron: Who?

Soloviev: An engineer who worked for many years in a good position, in high positions. They created weapons for nuclear submarines.

Saffron: Amazing!

Soloviev: And so, at some point in time, when the then Bishop was exiled to Smolensk after the St. Petersburg Theological Seminary, then at the family council it was decided that the sisters would go with him and help him there. And from that moment on, his sisters help him. So this is how my sister reacted when she saw this photo. She said: “It’s terrible, what a terrible photo. If they asked me, I would give them a good one!” This is a very human and very feminine reaction. I asked the patriarch: “Excuse me, can I stop talking about material things? I want to talk about the spiritual, which is much more important, much more necessary.” And I asked the patriarch that I remember the moment when the enthronement was taking place, when the miter was lowered, how much your face has changed. This is the responsibility! This is a feeling of colossal responsibility. And the patriarch says that all trials are not as difficult as this colossal burden of responsibility.

We talked a lot about the crisis of spirituality, about anger in society, about the reluctance of people to follow the law, including the moral law. We talked about the tragedy and degradation of the Russian language and the need to return, probably, the best examples of the Church. After all, many do not understand that the Church is only now being reborn. At the same time, I repeat once again, I am a Jew. I'm not a Christian! But I understand well that Russia cannot live without spiritual roots. And I see that attack on Russia, which comes through an attack on Russian spirituality. We talked about atheism, and His Holiness says very interestingly: “Look, I believe in God, but I don’t force anyone to my faith! I respect people of all different views and beliefs.”

Not many people know what role His Holiness played in establishing diplomatic relations with many countries where Christian traditions are not at all, even during his work in the Department of External Church Relations. But not many people understand, unfortunately, how aggressive atheists are. After all, for some reason they always impose their disbelief in God. I’m telling you, I don’t force my faith on anyone! I treat people well! I don’t shout to them: “Oh, you don’t believe in God!” The level of aggression is completely different.

They said that, unfortunately, people often perceive the words coming from the lips of Kuraev and Chaplin as the ultimate truth. Although here it is necessary to distinguish, because, if you like, Kuraev is a “free shooter”. You never know there are people of this rank in the Russian Orthodox Church. But it is as if it is not inside the structure of structures. This is always his personal point of view. But the department headed by Chaplin was given the task of establishing a dialogue with society. Chaplin does a lot, but not enough, in my opinion. But, again, I liked that there was never any condemnation from the patriarch’s lips. There was a desire to use everyone as much as possible, for the benefit of society and the Church, to give everyone the opportunity to reveal their talent. I hope that it has become a little clearer to you. Although I understand that those who hate will continue to hate. But in any case, you heard a different point of view. The reputation was spoiled by the bailiffs who valued the apartment at 15 million rubles. Did this happen? And the bailiffs assessed Mr. Shevchenko’s apartment in accordance with the amount for which it was declared according to the BTI. Now Mr. Shevchenko has put this apartment up for sale for $2.5 million. Based on this, when the apartment is sold, these 15 million rubles are paid off, that is, this is the law. But this, again, has nothing to do with the Church. They write: “It cannot be denied that the Church is to a large extent simply a commercial enterprise.” This is complete nonsense! The Church is not a commercial enterprise at all; one must have very little idea of how the Church lives in order to say such a thing. Moreover, many people say: “Why aren’t you ascetics?” People somewhat invent their understanding of the different degrees of monasticism and different forms of monasticism and confuse this, for example, with the Gospel. I would like to note that Jesus Christ was not an ascetic. Nowhere is it written that Jesus Christ walked in rags and was a mendicant.

Saffron: Moreover, he also took part in the wedding. And he turned water into wine!

Soloviev: Yes. And he ate well. As they would say in the local language, “in restaurants.” And he allowed himself to treat and oil his hair with rich, expensive oil, very expensive at that time. Therefore, read the Gospel more carefully. They write: “Good morning! Isn’t storing rarities in an apartment a voluntary risk for the keeper?” There is the concept of civil liability, which occurs if your actions cause material damage. This is a question for the court to decide. “How many millions to clean the books? Vladimir, do you yourself believe in this nonsense?” This is not nonsense. This is the estimate given by the rare book restoration institute based on the work they were required to evaluate. This amount was initially even greater because it involved double cleaning. And, alas, any person who is involved in restoration work will tell you with sadness that restoration work is expensive. If you mean “clean” - this means calling two cleaning teams, which “Mr. Proper is more cheerful, the floor began to shine twice as fast,” then books are not cleaned that way, unfortunately. This is de facto the hardest recovery. “Why does the Church collect a fee for baptism? Moreover, tariffs vary greatly depending on location,” - Dmitry from Novosibirsk. I baptized my children. Nowhere, not a single church - where I baptized - was any fee charged. I baptized my children and grandson. But if you wish, you could make a donation. I am not a churchgoer. I will definitely invite one of the representatives of the Russian Orthodox Church who can answer these specific questions.

Saffron: This depends to a large extent on the particular priest in the particular temple. And there are many who do not like the established tariffs. Although in fact it's all really free. And in those churches where I go, you voluntarily give, if you want, as much as you see fit.

Soloviev: They write: “Lessons in atheism are not taught at school. This mission belongs to the Church.” It was thanks to the patriarch that not only was introduced the concept according to which the three main world religions were given the opportunity to optionally teach the fundamentals, but also the fourth section was introduced - these are the fundamentals of world ethics or aesthetics specifically for atheists. Therefore, it should be noted here that the patriarch showed a colossal sense of tact towards those who do not believe in God. They write: “Thanks for the clarification! This example clearly shows the discrepancy between commercial prices and bailiffs’ assessments. Even commercial prices are subject to a multiplier. With their work they cast a shadow on Kirill.” It should be noted that, naturally, the patriarch in no way can and does not intend to interfere in the activities of a specific court in a very specific case. This is initially false! Anna asks: “What about the biblical: “It’s easier for a camel to get through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to get into the Kingdom of Heaven.” Anna, the eye of a needle was a gate for a person in a large city gate. That is, a person walked through them, bending over. And the point here was that in order to get there, the camel had to crawl on its knees. That is, a slightly different meaning was put into this term. But! I asked in all seriousness - and I spoke with many who know His Holiness very well, I said: “But how rich is a person?” And I have seen many very rich people in my life! These are very, very rich people! And you always feel when a person is rich or not rich in a million ways. I can say that His Holiness is undoubtedly a billionaire! But not matter, but spirit. This is a person for whom the material world, in terms of acquisitiveness, does not exist at all! He doesn't even appreciate it. This is a man of amazing spirituality, amazing! But, in worldly language, not rich at all. That is, well, so poor that, despite the gift from the president that he wears - a watch, I don’t even know our middle-class businessmen who would wear such a watch. Well, it’s not like keeping it in a box that it’s a gift from the president, but like this, every day. No, the watch is good, but it’s just different compared to the current tricks and tricks. And I looked: there were no expensive writing instruments - none of that. There are no tricks at all. This is all gone! And when a person speaks, you just feel such a feeling of love, care emanating from him, not only for you personally, and you realize in general what is on his shoulders, then, of course, the attitude changes very much.

Why did His Holiness give these hours so much? Is it about the clock? These conversations only distract from the main thing.

Because Patriarch Kirill openly professes Satanism.

Because Gundyaevshchina is the highest and final stage of Sergian abomination.

And also - what’s worst - focusing attention on watches, yachts and Mercedes is very reminiscent of PURE SOVIET psychology - looking into someone else’s pocket.

(So that there are no rich people, take away and divide equally, etc. Sharikov!)

Here, in the first place, I have disgust for the proletariat. (Which made the revolution in 1917.)

I always said that it is very important not only to fight against communism, but also to oppress the working people.

But seriously, everything is very simple.

When you hate communism, naturally, it goes without saying, you hate EVERYTHING THAT CAN LEAD TO IT.

As soon as the thought of “social justice” appears, know: this is the very path that leads to all kinds of harmful ideas and revolutions.

What a difference the price of this watch makes! Every person wants to live well, including the patriarch. Therefore, you should not judge your neighbor. It’s not the things that matter in life, but the soul.

Why is everyone attached to our Patriarch? It is clear that Bobby pays for the articles, everyone reads, comments, is indignant, denounces. Brothers and sisters, better think about the events of 1991, how they destroyed a great state. Who did it. What kind of money does his offspring live on and reproduce? This is the topic. Not a watch. Another topic, abortions, 6 million annually. Think about these numbers, bloggers. Also, think about your life. What will you go with to Eternity? How they served God, were they able to fulfill all the commandments (applies only to Christians). How much good they did for their neighbors, and what about their neighbors, their parents, brothers and sisters. What they did for Russia. Can you say about yourself, I am a patriot, like Alexander Nevsky, P. Stolypin, G. Zhukov, N. Rubtsov, I. Talkov, and I don’t just live in this country. And when your heart is cleansed, you gain holiness, then there will be no point in discussing watches.

Irina! The fact of the matter is that I do not have a real Breguet, but a replicant - an exact copy of an expensive Swiss watch model. But only a specialist can visually distinguish a replicant from the original. I know well that many Russian politicians and show business stars wear replicants, and not original Swiss watches. And the patriarch may have been given a replicant...

Breguet watches are never cheap. If you have a cheap watch from this company, then it is a fake.

The cost of such watches is hundreds of thousands of rubles and more. See for yourself by looking at prices in any online store.

BREGUET 5188

I also have a Breguet. My watch looks no worse than those attributed to the patriarch. But they don’t cost 30,000 dollars, but only 400, because they are an exact copy of the expensive Breguet model. By the way, many Russian politicians and show business stars wear the same fakes...

I specially studied all the photos of the patriarch with a Breguet watch (including the one that was just posted by someone on this forum and then deleted by the administrator). At high magnification, these photographs turn into unprofessionally produced photomontages. Very rough work. The boundaries of the overlap of different objects on each other are visible, the proportions are violated, sometimes the sharpness of adjacent parts does not match, etc. To me, as a person who knows Photoshop very well, all these things are obvious...

Who really needs the “watch of Patriarch Kirill” and why? Why the Patriarch Did Alexy I wear a cane? What results can be obtained in “Photoshop” and how did provocateurs screw up with time and “Photoshop”?

Over the past few days, the Internet has been relishing the notorious scandal surrounding the “Patriarch’s watch.” Moreover, they are inflating this information dump against the backdrop of the Patriarch’s visit to Ukraine...

“Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus' Kirill, who is on a visit to Ukraine, visited the city of Gorlovka, where he talked with miners and told them what he thought about the crisis and how to work in this difficult time for the country. He said that there would not have been an economic crisis , if everyone worked like miners and metallurgists, and called on the residents of Donbass to unite during this difficult period.

“Gorlovka, like the entire Donbass, where people with their sweat and blood extracted and are extracting their daily bread, is the land of miners, metallurgists, land surveyors and chemists. Your work produces real values,” the patriarch said. “If the whole world worked the way the miners of Gorlovka and Donbass work, then there would be no crisis,” the primate of the Russian Orthodox Church emphasized, RIA Novosti reports.

Kirill also said that the current crisis is “the result of sin that has penetrated the modern economy.” “People of honest labor are paying for those who acquired millions and billions out of thin air. We are all paying for deception, for the desire for profit, for the loss of humanity in economic relations,” stated the Moscow high priest.

The Patriarch thus showed the Donbass miners that he had his finger on the pulse of what was happening in Russia, but did not take into account that on this hand, during his statements about the crisis, money-grubbers, spiritual values and destructive liberalism leading to hell, there was a Breguet watch on it, costing from 28 up to 36 thousand euros, Korrespondent.net reports. This is a classic Breguet model: the case is made of white gold, the strap is made of crocodile leather, the movement is automatic, and there is an alarm clock.

Of course, all the haters of Orthodoxy rushed to throw mud and scream about supposed greed and hypocrisy.
(hmm, well, who would doubt that they would scream like that? ;))
At the same time, it is doubtful whether all these envious rednecks, hysterically “convicting” the Patriarch of wearing a watch for “30 thousand euros” (however, they are often confused about the cost of the watch), have helped even one person in life.
However, the provocateurs allowed a certain amount of negligence, and they fell asleep...

It should be noted that the mere fact of wearing a watch, even an expensive one, is by no means evidence of greed. Let’s say even if the Patriarch had a similar watch. So what?
What kind of envious shouting out of nowhere is this?
Firstly, this watch is not the latest model.
Secondly, it is not necessarily original. Yes, actually, not necessarily “Swiss” - just similar, including those from the Moscow plant, maybe...
Don’t you think that priests don’t buy watches themselves, but that parishioners with means consider it a blessing to give them a watch? Not everyone's priest will take a gift...

What if the Patriarch wore a Chinese plastic watch? And then they would make fun of him as a “sucker”, a “beggar”.... Well, no matter what the Patriarch does, the yapping provocateurs from the “yellow press” will always put him in a negative light....
If he wore a simple watch, they would write that the Patriarch is a hypocrite, artificially making himself poor, and he himself, they say, drives a Mercedes, etc. ..
And they will definitely add the famous “he-also-sold vodka”...
And no one cares that all the stories about the “trade in vodka, tobacco and service in the KGB” have one “reliable source” - the writings of a certain journalist and exposed KGB informer S. Bychkov, in relation to whom there is testimony that he himself is was a sexot and based on his denunciation they imprisoned a priest...

Those screaming do not understand a simple thing - the Patriarch has no property. Everything on it belongs to the Church. The hierarchy of the church does not own anything. All they have is what they wear. And all this, as a rule, is donated, not purchased. And decent people don’t sell or re-gift gifts.

However, it is very likely that the whole story is a banal and poorly executed provocation...
Among the sea of screaming, squealing, hysterical “patriarch-haters,” the restrained and sober remarks of people who noticed obvious signs of a fake are lost...

Axler also fell for it, repeating the “sensation” about the watch.
To which they answered him on his own site::

Dear, during the service, WATCHES ARE NOT WEARED. Moreover, in such a rank. Even if Kirill has such a watch (no surprise), he takes it off during service.

The hand with the watch is much more wrinkled than Kirill’s hand in his photo.

These are different photos. The usual dubious fraud. It's a shame to fall for this cheap thing.

I dare to assure you that if Kirill really had such a clock at the prayer service, the photographer would have had time to photograph both the clock itself and Kirill with the clock on the motor, and on different scales, about eight times within a second.

And since this was not the case, they used Photoshop.
(Taken from here)

Attempts to post the “sensation” on the watchmakers forum evoked a scathing response:

Artem writes on his blog ( char_off ) :

And another sober person asks the question:
and gave a simple answer:

Look at the clock. Their. Wrist, pocket, floor, street...
Ask a passerby.
And the unkind paparazzi decided to take a close-up photograph of the hand of the Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus' with a watch on it. And they surprised everyone by saying that the humble servant of God wears a “brace” for a million rubles.....
When they told me this little story, I almost choked on a cherry...
Show me, I say, this photo fact... Oh, they Googled it, Yandexed it -
found .
Yes, I'm perplexed Why is the time on the watch ugly?
Prayer service from 10, it’s just past six o’clock... In the evening of that day, the patriarch talked a lot on TV...
Maybe a provocation?

Well, the man asked a reasonable question. After all, over time, some kind of overlay appears....

Schedule of the Patriarch's visit:
July 27, Monday
09.00 – departure from Moscow (Moscow time)
09.00 – arrival at Boryspil airport (local time)
09.45 – prayer service on Vladimirskaya Hill
10.10 – press release
10.40 – meeting of His Holiness the Patriarch at the Near Caves of the Kiev Pechersk Lavra
12.00 – meeting of the Holy Synod
16.15 – meeting with the President of Ukraine V.A. Yushchenko
16.45 – meeting of His Holiness the Patriarch at the holy gates of the Lavra
17.00 – All-night vigil
(From here)

And on the photographed clock it’s the beginning of seven....

Hmm, did the Ukrainian journalists (or the SBU) screw up?

As “proof,” like drowning people clutching at a straw, detractors grabbed a photograph from the Patriarchate’s website, where the Patriarch is sitting in his office with some kind of watch on his hand...

http://www.patriarchia.ru/data/775/147/1 235/2_MG_8464.JPG

Well, so what? :)))
The photograph shows the Patriarch NOT in Kyiv, but in Moscow.
NOT in the temple, but in the office. NOT during the service, but during the interview.
Well, the logic of the detractors of the Patriarch: “There is elderberry in the garden, and uncle (Yushchenko?)” in Kyiv... :)
So this does not cancel the fact that “Photoshop” was used by the “Ukrainian paparazzi”.

Build “accusations” on the “basis” that in the photo from the Patriarchate’s website one can see some indistinguishable clock, vaguely reminiscent of the clock in the “revealing” photo? But it’s generally difficult to say anything definite about the watch in this photo.
In fact, it doesn’t matter what kind of watch the Patriarch wears, or whether he wears it at all. Even if he had an expensive watch, they could have given him one as a gift. Or the watch could be a memory of my grandfather, who spent 30 years in Stalin’s camps for his faith in God, and was a train driver by profession. By the way, the railway workers were wealthy people and, out of official necessity, wore good watches, including those from Breguet...

By the way, when a crowd of lemmings began to promote the wonderful company "Breget", some citizens rummaged around - and for some reason they did not find just such a watch on the company's website... ;)

Moreover, some write:
“You, gentlemen, are quick to make cheap sensations, but didn’t notice that the model number on the saint’s hand is 5188 (which generally look different), and not 3100-3102 (the last two digits mean a variant design - case material, etc. ). And what the Patriarch has costs from 350 to 850 USD"

Also write:
"We look at the photo and see Breguet 5188
We look at the manufacturer's website
http://www.breguet.com/
This model (5188) is not available on the Breguet website. This model number was never produced. from 51XX there are 5140, 5157, 5177, 5187 and 5197. All
The Breguet 5188 model, declared by the Ukrainians as “the watch of Patriarch Kirill,” simply does not exist in nature.
It turns out that either the patriarch is wearing a Chinese handicraft (for 350 dollars), or the dill was photoshopped by the paparazzi, and illiterately.”

An attempt to declare that this is a serial number also failed: this is what a watch with this serial number looks like:

They shouted and shouted about “hours worth 20 (30, 40) thousand euros”... And on this “foundation” they tried to build some kind of denunciation... But until the premise is proven, the conclusion has no right to exist . This is the basis of logic and common sense. You can’t talk about the cost of a watch at 30 thousand euros without having an idea of what kind of watch you’re talking about. This is the basis of logic and general decency.

Beautiful, right?
The cost of this watch is: $320 . Even close up they cannot be distinguished from those that cost 30 thousand euros.

For example, Alexey from Lipetsk sells them by calling 8-951-308-52-25

Sends for 9000 rubles to anywhere in the world for free!

Black leather strap with classic Breguet lock.

Hmm... if we take into account the inconsistencies and oddities, then it is quite possible to assume that the "ukrops" ("Ukrainian paparazzi") bought such a watch for a couple of thousand hryvnia, snapped it off and photoshopped it...
Whether the Patriarch has a real “Breguet”, donated by one of the heads of state, or a replica of the “Breguet”, or even a simple white watch on a black strap from some 1st Moscow watch factory - this does not in any way change the fact that it was photoshopped ...
The goal is clear - to distract from the main results of the triumphal visit, to harp on some nonsense...

Another observant person writes:

Indeed, “for some reason” the full-size photograph from which the Breguet crop was taken could not be found.... Why not, huh?

On July 11 of this year I found Patriarch Kirill on Valaam. I specifically looked for a watch among my photographs. I found two frames (we’ll forget about the artistry this time) that clearly show that he didn’t have a watch on his left hand that day:

(I specially posted the originals so that there would be no doubt about the authenticity)
Draw your own conclusions.

It got to the point that all this hysteria around the “Patriarch’s watch” caused a negative reaction even from an unbeliever on “Echo of Moscow”, who asked a reasonable question: who needed it and why?

I note that this is said by a non-religious person, who has traditional “anticlerical” cliches in his head (about “priests in Mercedes”, etc.)...

And there in response to him - a remark about priests, which I quote:

For the most part, they are “not like that.” And conversations about watches, Mercedes and underwear (at least they don’t remember the Pope’s dress shoes) are conversations about what we want to see in others, but not in ourselves.

As for the watch specifically, I dare to note, firstly, that according to the ancient canons of the Church (even from apostolic times), in general, all the property of the diocese is the personal, lifelong property of the bishop, and secondly, that if we follow the logic of modern exposers, then of Christ Himself must be exposed, for He was dressed in an expensive “unstitched tunic” because of which a quarrel even broke out between his executioners - who would get it, and thirdly, the Patriarch is not just a public person, but a public person of our entire Church - the Primate, and such a person is simply obliged to dress and be kept at an appropriate level.

And, lastly, Patriarch Nikon once walked around in luxurious robes, under which hid a hair shirt and heavy chains (chains), with which the patriarch humbled himself.

So, in Christian asceticism it is accepted that it is better to gain condemnation than public praise. And I would not be surprised if both the late Patriarch Alexy and the living Patriarch Kirill practice something similar to Patriarch Nikon.

I was interested in this story: how do priests generally treat watches?
It turned out that the clock is important for pastors - after all, church services must be performed on time. At the same time, the attitude towards wearing watches differed among different pastors. So His Holiness Patriarch Alexy I was generally against wearing wristwatches:

“He always had enough time for everything (and I, on the contrary, can’t master this art - I always don’t have enough time!), in everything he was characterized by extreme accuracy and precision. I remember how once, having arrived two minutes earlier to somewhere - where they were waiting for him, he apologized terribly. One of the small “temptations” was the church clock, which in different churches where he had to serve went differently, inaccurately, and if we, the subdeacons, went out to prepare everything for the service. , then we also needed to check whether the watch was running correctly. The Patriarch himself wore it on a chain - he believed that it was indecent for a bishop to wear a watch on his hand. If he saw this on a bishop, he said:

“Most Reverend, are you wearing a watch on your wrist?” And as a sign of special favor, he could take a watch on a chain from the box and give it to him: “Here you go, please.” So that you don’t have this on your hand again!” When I was ordained bishop, he gave me such a watch.

During the service, it happened that he wanted to know the time, but it was difficult: he allowed himself to take out his watch only if he was sitting in the altar and could do it without attracting attention. He could not get his watch out in public. I once gave him a staff, in the top of which there was a recess with a lid in which a watch could be hidden. The knob cover opened by pressing a button. The Patriarch actually used this device for some time, then it may have ended up in the Central Accreditation Center.
....
But Patriarch Pimen already looked at it differently. Once I asked him: “Your Holiness! How do you feel about the watch on your wrist?” “Very good,” he replied, “I wear it myself.” Here, I have “Victory”. They walk great!” So, after him, we all began to wear watches on our wrists.

(Quoted from the text: Metropolitan Pitirim. Memoirs. His Holiness Patriarch Alexy I and his entourage)

As we see, some hierarchs, even during off-duty hours, considered it wrong to wear a watch... Of course, nothing is written in the church canons about wristwatches - so everyone decides for themselves. :)

Patriarch Kirill fulfills his pastoral duty. And Yushchenko’s attempt to ban the Patriarch of All Rus' from visiting Rivne failed - Patriarch Kirill is still going to Rivne >

UPD. Under the cut, inside the text, I also made additions regarding the photo from the Patriarchate website and technical clarifications on the watch... Whatever one may say, this is Photoshop... :))
UPD. UPD And I also added photos, an analysis about watches... Hmm, the Breguet company is now really obliged to pay for advertising! ;)
