Type quickly on the keyboard. How I learned to type blindly. Experiment on yourself.

Each person who has a desktop computer, laptop or netbook should be able to type on the keyboard. Self-taught people often do not fully master the blind typing method, and therefore they can’t turn on all the fingers that are needed for fast, efficient keyboard operation. It is believed that if a person types less than 150 characters in 1 minute, then he does not own a computer as a tool. And, indeed, in order to increase your capabilities when working with this technique, it is important to be able to quickly print, that is, keep up with your thought!

How to learn to type blindly - the main points

The ten-finger blind typing method includes the work of all ten fingers on the hands. To perfection, the blind typer looks relaxed from the side, naturally. Printing is quick and easy. The whole point of teaching a ten-fingered set lies in well-studied rules, which are repeated until automatism. A person performs a different number of actions on autopilot every day. With the study of these rules, one action will become more. It is advised to put aside fear and put aside the rush.

  • Important rule 1: during typing, do not look down at the keyboard, do not check what is written.
  • Important rule 2: for each finger there are rules.

How to learn to type blindly - don't be afraid to make mistakes

In order to make your life easier, you can print a cheat sheet, preferably in color. It should be depicted all the fingers, as well as their spare places. This cheat sheet is attached in a convenient place, removed only when the location of all the fingers has been studied. And do not forget: you can look at the cheat sheet, but you can not look at the keyboard! Prohibit yourself from being afraid of mistakes. The computer will easily fix them.

How to learn to type blindly - key and finger assignments

  • The keyboard is divided into 4 rows. The zero row is where the space is located, respectively the 4th row with numbers. The support row “fyva-oldge” is a row on which all fingers always lie, and a start is made from it. “Fiva” - for the left hand. Old is for the right.
  • On the keys "ao", you can find special bulges, they are needed in order to quickly navigate, correctly position the fingers of the left and right hands. These keys are in the back row.
  • Backspace is pressed with the little finger or ring finger of the right hand.
  • Enter shrugs the little finger of the right hand.
  • Space bar - for thumbs of both hands.
  • Shift - there are two such keys on the keyboard. If you need to use the character of the left register, Shift presses the little finger on the opposite side, on the right. Conversely, a symbol from the right register means that Shift is pressed with the little finger on the left side.
  • The index finger of the left hand is “56, ke, ap, mi”; on the right - "78, ng, po, t".
  • The “pr” and “keng”, “mit” keys are intended for index fingers.
  • The middle finger of the left hand is "4ws", the right one is "9shlb."
  • The ring finger of the left hand is "3tsych," the right is "0shchdyu."
  • Left hand little finger "e12, Tab, th, Caps Lock, f, Shift, I". Right little finger “- \u003d \\ Backspace; zhEnter; je Enter; Apostrophe Shift. "
  • With the numbers that are located on the optional keyboard on the right side, work with the fingers of the right hand. You can find the bulge on the key "5", which is located in the center of the support row. On the additional keyboard are four rows from top to bottom. Four fingers work. Each row has its own row. For example, the index finger presses the “Num Lock, 741, Enter” keys.
  • In the case of speed dialing, the brush does not lie on the table or keyboard, but floats in the air.
  • Do not hurry! Only diligent practice gives good results.
  • Already today, start typing any text you like.

How to learn to type blindly - landing   at the table

To increase fruitfulness, the person working at the table should know how to sit properly so as not to be crippled. The fact is that sedentary work over time leads to back pain and scoliosis. There should always be intervals for rest. The rules for a safe fit are very simple.

  • The legs are on the floor or stand, they are level.
  • The back is straightened, the back of the chair touches the spine.
  • The monitor is located directly in front of the face, at a distance of not less than a meter.
  • The neck is not bent, the head is looking straight.

If you read this text, then you are either my regular reader (haha), or, more likely, you yourself want to learn the method of typing on the keyboard. Well, I am satisfied with both options. Let me tell you something in confidence: I won’t teach you to type blindly, BUT ... STOP, don’t leave! I will give you some tips and you yourself will learn if you want!

So, this topic will be small, but please read it to the end and at the end you will understand everything.
It all started yesterday, that is, November 28, 12. I was at work (yes, I am a C # programmer, if anyone is interested), and aside from the deadlines there is practically no more control over me, I need to take something in my free time. I did not want to write posts on the site or even the 5th lesson in the html tutorial and I remembered my long-standing goal (note, I avoid the word “dream” and always try to replace it with the wonderful word “goal”, because the meaning is radically different!) - learn typing without looking at the keyboard, that is, blindly, as they say.

Well, it is said - done is begun. I began to search, because there should be something useful on the Internet in this regard. And what do you think? Yes, I came across a couple of miracle techniques, of course, paid. One was called “solo on the keyboard” in my opinion, but, I tell you, this is such nonsense, you will forgive me. Free initial lessons came down to a set of one or two letters, that is, you sit and poke one and the same letter 100 times. Well, what is it? And everything else, that is, normal training with words - paid, or one lesson per day for free. Yes, you roll sausage, I thought, and went looking further.

Almost all the manuals were huge. Tons of text, and tasks, again, boiled down to looping on one, at most three letters. Well, things are not done either, comrades. And then I understood. In this case, there will be no freebie. No techniques work. Understand this and you, the sooner - the better. But how so? - you ask and this will be a reasonable question. And so: you can only learn to type blindly using muscle memory plus the subconscious! Exactly! You need to practice and practice every day for about a week for 20-30 minutes a day. again, DO NOT rush to leave! I suggest you follow me to see if I can master this method or not. If I can, then you can, and otherwise ... but no other way, I can and that's it!

What do I offer you? Track my self-experiment as I study. I did not buy courses, did not download programs, and I do not advise you. All you need is a simulator. You can write it yourself, if not laziness, but you can use the site klava.org. This is by no means an advertisement, but you never know whether you look, whoever is in the subject will understand, even the link in nofollow is closed!
So, before you start practicing, let's take a look at just the key points! This is the foundation, not at all complicated, but if you understand, then learning will be a joy!

  • We look at the keyboard, we see there serifs on the Russian letters "a" and "o". Rejoice, remember.
  • We put 4 fingers of the left hand on the letters “FIVA”, and the fingers of the right hand on “OLJ”. Remember the location of the hands.
  • We look at the picture below and realize which fingers are responsible for which letters. DO NOT BE SCARED! You don’t have to remember everything at once! At the beginning, I just remembered that FYVA and OLGE were even confused! Everything will come with experience, very fast.

Here is the picture, just look at it, understand the logic and that's enough. It makes no sense to memorize.

The logic here is simple. Different colors indicate different fingers. Accordingly, if you place your hands as I taught you a little higher, then you will understand which fingers belong to which color. I, unlike the vast majority of bloggers, believe that my readers are not fools and will be able to compare what's what.
Well, that’s all, you don’t need anything else, just practice, practice and practice again!

Diary of my print successes

And also follow the progress of my experiment, I will update the post every day or every other day, so bookmark the page, and also subscribe to new articles in the form on the top right where you need to enter.

Day 1. 28.11.12 . It’s boring, I don’t feel like writing a textbook, but lounging, reading a Habr or 9gag is also not an option. You need to entertain yourself with something useful. ABOUT! Print blindly, as I have long wanted. Seeking. Nothing useful. I found a couple of techniques, poked the same letter 20 times, I didn’t see the point, but I realized that it doesn’t roll, I need to practice in words. Found a simulator, I will practice on it. 15 minutes have passed, I feel like a grandmother who sees a computer for the first time, although maybe I am now printing even slower than her. 25 minutes ... tired, enough for today.

Day 2 29.11.12 . The work for today is done. I remembered about the press, I need to continue, I already began to receive some elusive pleasure. I recall the location of some letters from yesterday. I noticed that the main load falls on the index fingers and on the little finger of the right hand. I begin to understand that the letters are located on the keyboard for a reason, but in the mind, the most demanded the closest. The dialing speed has grown a bit, I’m mistaken already much less. I wonder if I will overtake grandmothers in speed now ...

Day 3 30.11.12 . In the morning, as I arrived, I immediately decided to practice. During the night, knowledge in the head was structured, fingers themselves asked for the keyboard :) I found that the site can count typing speed and the number of errors. It also has a timer, which by default is set for 15 minutes. So I pulled these 15 minutes. Made 4% errors, typing speed was 55 characters per minute.
After lunch, I decided to practice more, all the same, the more it starts to work out, the more the desire to improve skills! I typed the words, there were 1% errors, and then this was accumulated misses. Speed \u200b\u200bincreased to 65 characters per minute. I think this is a good result for the third day of training. I also practiced skype a bit during correspondence, I decided that now I’ll only write at work on Skype, though my friends are furious that I am slow now: D I have no desire to look at the keyboard while typing, and my friend says that he had precisely this and had problems, saying that he always strove to spy. But I don’t know, I don’t have one, because on the contrary I want to learn blindly, so why peep and cheat. By the way, a friend of this has a typing speed of more than 400 characters per minute, he blindly spits with might and main. I will strive to break his record, there will be an incentive :)

Day 6 03.12.12 . Now, December, winter. Days 4 and 5 fell out, because on the weekend it was not possible to practice. This only proves my theory that I won’t be able to learn to print blindly at home, since things are “more important” all the time. So I’m better somehow at work. Well, today is just Monday and I with new strength sat down at the keyboard. It turned out a total of 25 minutes to practice. Fingers are already reflexively jumping on the keys, but sometimes I miss. And sometimes it happens the other way around - I fall into a stupor and can not remember where the letter is located. Thus, through painful training, today I got to a speed of 75 characters per minute. Errors approximately 1%. I tested the Speed \u200b\u200bchip. I liked it, but only there the speed of the pointer is set to 200 characters per minute and does not change. Naturally, I don’t keep up with him, and when I start to rush, I get lost and start to mow. In general, I made a note in my head that the function is good, I will return to it when it is about 150 characters per minute, just to reach 200, and there will already be comfortable work and the practice will be directly during work - in Skype, at the post office, when writing articles and so on. In general, I look forward to when muscle memory strengthens stronger.

Day 14 11.12.12 . I did not write about my achievements for a long time, as there was no particular reason. But today, I finally overcame the bar of 100 characters per minute, so I consider the experiment complete on this. At work on Skype, I correspond exclusively blindly, so the skill grows by itself. Do not be afraid to start, the main thing is discipline and everything will turn out! Good luck to everyone in touch typing;)

Have you mastered the blind printing method? If so, was it hard for you? And if not, then join my experiment!

We all remember old films, where we often showed computer geniuses who managed to simultaneously print quickly, looking at the monitor, talking to the main character and sipping coffee. Then it seemed not very possible, however, in fact, it is not. The blind ten-finger printing method has been around for many years! So how do you quickly learn this wonderful method?

There are a huge number of training programs for teaching the blind ten-finger method, both paid and free:   Stamina, AK Keyboard Simulator, Keyboard Solo  and many others. In addition to programs, there are also online press simulators, for example, a website ALL10  or service Ergosolo. The principle of their work is the same as in conventional programs, only transferred to your browser. All this already gives a good baggage to start compared to the recent time, when they studied books on typewriting (for example, Solo on the Typewriter, the first book by the creator of Solo on the Keyboard)! However, before you begin training, you should learn a few simple rules.

Rule number 1: watch your posture

And do not be surprised. - The first tool to increase productivity when printing! Remember that you need to sit so that the back is straight and leaned on the back of the chair, the hips were at an angle of 90 degrees from the torso, just like the lower leg relative to the hips. Hands should be bent at the same angle, and the head should be opposite the monitor at a distance of 40-70 centimeters from it. Of course, for these purposes it is better to choose a comfortable chair with armrests.

Rule number 2: down with interference!

Not a trifle should bother you: long nails, sleeves, trash on the desktop, cups, pens ... Everything that will interfere with your sitting and typing correctly, you must eliminate, then you can concentrate on remembering the keyboard muscularly.

Rule number 3: looking for ledges

Everyone saw these pictures with colored fingers and their place on the keyboard. And it is most convenient to come to all these positions from the main: FYVA OLGE. Actually, the first thing to learn in the ten-finger method is to put the index fingers on the letters BUT  for the left hand and ABOUT  for the right one. Finding them blindly is not difficult: on all keyboards on these keys there are small, but tangible projections. From this position, it is very convenient to press any key with the finger closest to it, in addition, the most frequently used letters of the alphabet are located on this line of the keyboard!

Rule 4: Exact Positions

Try to learn to each finger knew its place: Do not learn to press the “not her” key with your finger, even if it seems convenient now. The ergonomics of a modern keyboard, in fact, have been sharpened precisely for the ten-finger printing method, so for a quick result it is better to do everything according to the instructions. After each keystroke, you should return to the initial position FYVA-OLDJ. The space bar should press the thumb of the hand opposite to the one that placed the letter in front of it. The same is true for the Shift key: it is pressed with the little finger of the hand opposite the “working” one.

Rule number 5: do not peek!

When you learn the ten-finger method with simulators, this skill is partially acquired, but blindly printing is not enough! You must correlate the muscle effort and position of each of your fingers with the letter that appears on the screen without looking at the keyboard, this is the whole principle! Fingers themselves will reach for the desired letters  as you master this skill.

Rule number 6: learn to relax

Since for the ten-finger method is used muscle memory, then the principle here should be like in physical training: muscles after “memorization” ,   therefore, after working with printing 30-45 minutes, take a break, distract from the monitor. The same rule will help you concentrate better if you are tired, annoyed, and you make mistakes by inattention.

Rule number 7: take your time

You will always have time to develop speed! It is important to first train muscle memory to increase print qualityand speed will come with time!

On the Internet, there are many different videos with lessons in touch typing. In fact, they almost all repeat what any touch typing simulator tells you. Therefore, here's just an informative video for fixing information:

Conclusion

Many argue that they learned to print more or less tolerably blindly in just a couple of months, and this skill has been helping them in their work for many years! Try and you learn how to blind ten-finger printing method, applying 7 simple rules to increase your productivity!
