Internet connection broken - what to do? The Internet is connected, but does not work: external reasons Our masters will perform such repairs

Many are familiar with the situation when sitting down at your computer, you find that the connection to the Internet is lost. A very undesirable problem, especially if your work directly depends on the Internet.

To fix any problem, you need to find the cause of its occurrence.
Why is the internet connected but not working? There can be many reasons for disconnecting the Internet, both internal and external.

Let's look at the main problems of disconnecting the Internet associated with external factors.

What is a provider and what are external causes

An ISP is a company that provides you with Internet access services by connecting your computer to the global network.

All data that you send or receive via the Internet passes through its devices, and the provider is obliged to ensure the transmission of data.

External reasons that cause the Internet to not work means that the problem originated outside of your home or device that replaces it.

In such cases, it is quite rare to correct the situation on your own, as a result of which it becomes necessary to contact the support service for Internet services, that is, the provider.

No electricity

The Internet signal comes to your house, having gone quite a long way. On this path is intermediate equipment that must be connected to electricity.

If there is a power cut anywhere along the way, the equipment will turn off and the signal will not pass. You can't find out about it just by sitting at home. You need to call the provider.

The provider may, through its equipment and software trace the whole chain, find out where the problem is, and fix it.

By the way, such breakdowns often occur during a thunderstorm or after a thunderstorm. Lightning protection devices are triggered and the power goes out.

In general, the weather began to deteriorate: strong winds, constant humidity, heavy rains, and even more so freezing rains do not contribute to the reliability of the Internet connection channels. But they add work for technical support of providers, and for users they add dissatisfaction with denials of access to the Internet.

Something broke

On the long way from the provider to your home, the provider's intermediate equipment may break. This is not your equipment, it is not in your home, but due to its breakdown, there will be no signal in the house. It is impossible to learn about this while sitting at home. Again, you need to call the provider.

Everything that does not spoil, also deteriorates - this is one of Murphy's laws. Therefore, the hour is not even, something in the chain of transmission of Internet signals to your house and apartment may deteriorate. Only the technical support of the provider can fix this.

Even the provider's server can break down, through which all users, more precisely, all the provider's clients get access to the Internet. This, however, happens extremely rarely. Servers are becoming more reliable, they are duplicated, redundant, and provide uninterrupted round-the-clock operation. But still with a similar problem, too, can be encountered. Fortunately, very rarely.

broke somewhere

Breakdowns include broken wires. Well, if a regular wire breaks, you can “splice” it, fix it. But, for example, a fiber optic wire cannot be connected without special equipment, which is not always available even from representatives of the provider's technical support.

Wires can break sooner or later. For different reasons. At my friends, for example, the wire going from the attic to the apartment fell off the ceiling, where it was lightly attached. The wire fell to the floor, everyone stepped over it for almost a week. And then everyone got tired of it, and the wire was cut off. I had to call the technical support of the provider.

It is practically impossible to splice the wires on your own. Yes, and it's dangerous. It is possible to confuse signal wires with low and safe voltage with power wires where there is life-threatening voltage. Do not try to fix the break yourself, call technical support.

Other problems on the side of the Internet provider

The provider's support service will be able to eliminate such problems as equipment breakdown at the provider's own premises, or in the attic (in the entrance) in your apartment building or repair a damaged wire. And we have already written about this above.

But, it is possible that unscheduled work is simply being carried out, which, of course, you should have been notified in advance, but as usual, you forgot. The provider warns about planned or unscheduled work by e-mail. But how often do we go to our mail? Even if often, did we specify the same e-mail in the contract with the Internet provider to contact us? Most often, to which messages from the provider are received, they are rarely opened and almost never read.

And then - it turns out that we were warned that in connection with such and such works, there would be no Internet connection from such and such a time and date to such and such a time and date. Forewarned is forearmed. If you do not read such warnings, then suddenly the Internet turns off. The most unpleasant thing is that many users who do not read mail get into a similar situation at the same time. Everyone simultaneously starts calling the provider to find out the cause of the problem, as a result, the line is overloaded, and it can be difficult to get information.

Financial blocking

It is worth reminding yourself that when your account balance is zero, the Internet connection is automatically blocked. Maybe you just forgot to top up your account? Think about this before you decide to contact support.

A support specialist usually checks the status of your balance. If you call, he may inform you that there is no Internet access due to financial blocking. You need to top up your balance to access the Internet.

Alas, financial locks can be wrong. The Provider may erroneously withdraw excess money due to, for example, a malfunction of equipment or a program related to customer payments. This, unfortunately, also happens, and thus financial blocking is automatically activated, and the Internet does not work. In this case, you will have to be persistent in communicating with technical support provider, which in turn will prove that you are wrong. In general, it is better that there are no such overlays.

Problems with the router

If you use to access the Internet, then the easiest option for why the Internet does not work is that the router is turned off. It just needs to be connected to electricity.

Sometimes another option helps. Turn off the computer, turn off the router and after a few minutes turn everything back on, this may help.

If the router is faulty, then such a reboot will not help, and the router will need to be replaced. However, it is difficult for an inexperienced user to determine that the reason for the lack of Internet lies precisely in the router. In this case, you have to call a specialist from a company that provides Internet access, that is, again from the provider's technical support.

Problems of mobile Internet users

If you use mobile Internet, then there are no wires going to your house or apartment. You receive a signal from the provider via the radio. But this does not mean that there are fewer problems on the provider's side.

First, so many users can connect at the same time that the provider does not have enough power.

Then the signal may weaken, or the ability to access the Internet will be completely disabled, since in conditions of overload, mobile operators primarily provide voice mobile communications, and only after that everything else.

Secondly, in the place where you are, the mobile operator may not be able to connect you to the Internet at all.

Alas, it means that in this place it will not work. It even happens that there is Internet in one part of the apartment or house, but not in the other, opposite part. It is necessary, as they say, to look for the most suitable place.

Thirdly, you may run out of money in your account, after all, the service of accessing the Internet is paid, as a rule. Also paid traffic may end, there is still money, but they are not intended to pay for Internet connections.

Here you need to take care of timely bills, as well as choose suitable tariff options that are convenient for using the Internet access service. Otherwise, you can be left without the Internet, no matter how sad it is.

It can also be trite overheat and stop working modem which you use to access the Internet. Then you have to stop the computer and wait until the device cools down. This happens in fast data networks, for example, operating in the 4G (or LTE) standard.

In general, and in mobile internet there may be problems, both on the provider side and on the user side.

Site blocking: some Internet pages do not work

It is possible that you went to a website and saw a message on the screen of your computer or smartphone: "Access to the resource is blocked."

Rice. 1 Message on the screen that access to the resource is blocked

In this case, it is better to close this message first, and then open another site, such as Yandex or Google. If other sites open normally, then this means that the Internet is working for you. The problem is not that the Internet does not work, but in a separate site to which you are denied access.

Access to any site may be blocked by Roskomnadzor or the court. Or the ISP accidentally blocked the site by mistake. Below is an example of such a case from my own experience.

Communication with the provider about blocking the site

I recently encountered the problem of blocking the site. I open a page on my site and see a message on the screen about the blocking of the page. I was surprised that all the pages of my site opened without problems and without any messages, except for one page. I opened the allegedly “blocked” page through another Internet provider, everything works, there is no blocking. What to do in this situation? Why did the ISP accidentally block my page?

I wrote a letter from detailed description of her situation, attached a screenshot (shown in Fig. 1), sent an e-mail to the support service of her Internet provider. Received this response from them: “Good afternoon, most likely this link, more precisely, the resource is blocked by Roskomnadzor or Mossud. The solution to the problem is to look in the Roskomnadzor database for what the resource was blocked for, and then contact us.”

I had to write again to the provider's support service that the page was blocked by only one provider. When accessing the Internet through any other provider, the page opens without problems.

After a long and more detailed communication with the technical support of the provider using E-mail correspondence, the problem was solved! And now all pages of the site open without problems.

Internet without problems - is it possible?

Modern data transmission systems, both wired and wireless, are becoming more and more reliable. And this is good, because, in this way, there are fewer and fewer problems with disconnecting the Internet.

It is unlikely that the Internet will ever become completely trouble-free. But already now, many users do not encounter similar problems of the absence of the Internet, both on the side of the provider and on their computers. Even, it would seem, these are far from technical problems, as, for example, financial blockages are eliminated faster. Providers offer so-called trust payments and other similar measures to restore the normal operation of the Internet even in the absence of money on the user's account

We always write about solving some problems that arise when connecting to the Internet via Wi-Fi. But, when connected through the usual network cable, too, not always everything goes smoothly. Yes, there are fewer problems with such a connection, but I have already seen questions in the comments about problems when connecting via a LAN cable.

In this article, we will try to figure out what problems can arise when connecting a regular stationary computer, or a laptop (netbook) to the Internet via a network cable, through a router.

It is when connected through a router. If you directly connect the network cable from the provider, then this will already be a slightly different case, and other solutions.

When I wrote an article on how to connect a computer to a router via a network cable (LAN), I talked about solving some problems. In this article, I want to dwell on this in more detail.

As a rule, desktop computers are connected via cable, since they do not have built-in Wi-Fi receivers. But, this problem is very simply solved by purchasing an external Wi-Fi receiver. Very good way get rid of unnecessary wires, which, in the case of connecting via a network cable, will have to be laid from the router to the computer.

So, the situation is this: you take a network cable (which, for example, was bundled with a router), and connect it to a computer (laptop) with a router. Everything is connected, but the Internet on the computer does not work.

What you need to pay attention to:

  • Whether another computer works through the same cable and from this router.
  • Does the Internet work on a problem computer if you connect it directly, without a router.
  • Is the LAN LED on the router lit.
  • What is the connection status on the computer. It may not change at all (for example, “Network cable is not connected”), it may not react in any way to connecting a network cable. Or there may be a permanent identification.

These are the most popular problems and nuances that you need to pay attention to. And how to solve them, we will now consider in more detail.

PC does not respond to LAN cable connection “No connections available”

We connect the cable to the router and the computer, to the network connector, but there is no reaction. Connection status (on the notification panel), computer with a red cross “No connections available”, which is displayed when the network cable is not connected, does not change after the cable is connected.

There may be a problem both in the router and in the cable, or computer. More precisely, in a network card, which is usually integrated into the motherboard. It is very easy to find out: just connect a cable from the Internet provider to the computer, not through a router. If there is a reaction to the connection, then most likely everything is fine with the network card. Or connect another computer to the router with the same cable. In this way, we will find out what the problem is.

If the computer does not respond to any cable connection (from different sources), then it is possible that the problem is in the network card. You can buy and install a new one, they are not expensive. Also, go to the device manager, and see if there is a network card there.

You may call it something else. If there is an exclamation mark next to it, then it is not working properly. Try reinstalling the driver. You just need to download from the manufacturer's website and run the installation manually, and not through the task manager.

It may also be that the LAN connector does not work on the router. It can also burn out. Try connecting the cable to all 4 LAN sockets (usually 4 LAN on the router).

If you connected several devices to the router via a network cable, and the Internet did not work on any of them, then it is obvious that the problem is in the router. Provided that the cable is working, tested. Maybe something in the settings. Try doing a factory reset and reconfiguring your router.

The main thing is to find out what is the reason.

It may also be something that is disabled Connect by local network. Need to check.

Go to , right click on and select Turn on(if it is disabled).

After these steps, the Internet should work.

Status “Identification…”, or “Unidentified network” (no internet access)

Another very popular problem, or even the most popular one. We connect a network cable to the computer, and the notification panel displays a permanent status "Identification…"(without network access).

Or, the connection status becomes "Unidentified network"(without internet access).

As a rule, such errors occur due to problems with IP addresses. Or, an IP is already registered on the computer (for example, from an old connection), and there is no connection to the router with this IP. Or, the DHCP server is disabled on the router, and it cannot give you an IP. In this case, you need to try to set automatic IP and DNS acquisition, or set these parameters manually.

For starters, try setting automatic IP and DNS acquisition. We go to Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections, or like this:

Right click on LAN connection and choose Properties. And then we do this:

Pull out and reconnect the network cable. The Internet should work immediately.

Similarly, you can try setting a static IP. Just highlight Use the following IP address and enter the IP. If you have access to the router at 192.168.1.1, then you can specify, for example, the address 192.168.1.60. If access to the settings is on 192.168.0.1, then the address will be 192.168.0.60. This is for an example.

DNS can be specified as follows: 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4.

Connection without Internet access (yellow triangle with an exclamation mark)

The problem looks like this:

Connection status “No internet access” as it speaks for itself, the Internet does not work. But, there is a connection to the router. As a rule, this error may appear due to incorrect router settings. When there is no internet connection.

Roskomnadzor's struggle with Telegram messenger recalcitrant Pavel Durov. In an attempt to regulate Russian segment Internet power can simply break it. For this, the decision of judge Yulia Smolina to block this messenger, which was issued on April 13, 2018, was enough. Already on April 16, without waiting for the appeal to be considered, Roskomnadzor began systematically burning Telegram in the Russian Internet space.

The scale of persecution can be judged by the following figures. As soon as the first subnets were blocked, the messenger transferred its servers to new IP addresses, but the regulator continued to block them. By April 19, 18 million IP addresses had already been banned, although in all the previous years of Roskomnadzor's work, only 38 thousand were blocked. Roskomnadzor considered it possible to block the IP addresses used by the American corporation Amazon:

We uploaded the Amazon subnet, to which Telegram switched

More than 650 thousand network addresses fell under the distribution. Further more. The rebellious Telegram continued to change IP addresses, obtaining them from Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud cloud services in order to bypass the blocking. On April 22, Russian Internet users discovered problems using the American Google search engine and some of its services. In response to numerous complaints from users, representatives of Roskomnadzor said that Google did not satisfy the requirements of the regulator and, in violation of the decision of the Russian court, continues to allow the Telegram Messenger Limited Liability Partnership service to use its IP addresses:

Roskomnadzor entered into the register of prohibited information a number of Google IP addresses that are used by Telegram to carry out activities in the Russian Federation

Such bitterness in the work of Roskomnadzor is associated with the principled position of the state to prevent the appearance on the basis of the messenger beyond the control of authorized bodies payment system with the Gram cryptocurrency, the intention to create which was voiced by Pavel Durov. The irony is that Telegram continues to work when a number of Russian banks, American Google and Amazon have fallen.

Experts note the tendency of the authorities to take control of the entire Internet space. The first website blocking in Russia began in 2012. In 2015, a law was passed obliging companies to transfer all data about Russian users global network to local servers. Was blocked in 2016 social network LinkedIn. There is an attempt to build a semblance of the "Great Chinese Firewall" in Russia.

Speculation has been made that the next on the list to take control could be the American Facebook.
