What does business informatics do. Training in the direction of training bachelors "Business Informatics" was very interesting. The theoretical knowledge gained was always consolidated with the help of a large number of practical, laboratory and individual workers.

Today, a huge number of questions have increased in relation to what is business informatics, who to work with and why is it interesting? If we start with a description of this direction, then we can say with confidence that business informatics is one of the youngest specialties related to the field. higher education... Undoubtedly, such a profession directly affects a very promising sector of modern activity. The specialty was formed against the background of the development of management, the presence of progress in the field of economics and due to the widespread use of information and communication technologies by the public.

Where does the learning process begin?

From the outset, you need to understand who the computer science business is, how do they work, and what do they do? It is worth, first of all, to pay attention to the material being studied in this specialty. At the beginning of the education, implying the initial stage of preparation, the greatest attention is paid to the natural sciences and other disciplines that lay the foundations in the field of information technology. In particular training course closely associated with subjects such as:

  • programming;
  • Informatics;
  • building information systems (development of architecture, creation, projects);
  • study and work with databases.
  • In addition to the above, primary education includes general mathematical disciplines. Among the compulsory subjects, students will meet:

  • mathematical analysis;
  • mathematical logic;
  • linear algebra;
  • Probability theory;
  • Discrete Math;
  • math statistics.
  • Further, the question rests on the economic environment. Training for a future profession implies the study and conduct of financial and management accounting, basic economic theories and many other subjects related to the humanities.

    In principle, it becomes clear what the profession of business informatics means and who to work with afterwards. However, this is not all. In the third and fourth years of study, training will delve into such areas of special disciplines as:

  • logistics;
  • legal informatics;
  • business process modeling, as well as their optimization;
  • architecture of corporate information systems;
  • personnel Management;
  • Information Security;
  • life cycle management software tools;
  • strategic management and much more.
  • Of course, the classes that students receive in the early stages remain basic and differ mainly in that they are relevant to the theory of the subject. However, much attention in training is paid to the methodological process, which is directly related to the implementation of enterprise automation, to the design, implementation and further operation of information systems. For the latter, students will have the opportunity to learn how to develop and operate information systems, and how to manage and organize an information and communication technology service.

    Practice and work for bachelors

    Practice in the direction of business informatics rests largely on trainings that allow you to master all kinds of tools, programs and systems, which, in turn, will make it possible to implement the knowledge gained during the study theoretical basis... These are Delphi, MS Project, Dot net and much more.

    Who can bachelors work in the specialty of business informatics? Specialists who have received such a degree have the right to conduct activities as part of the executive working group... In addition, they can work as managers of various service services and similar systems. In fact, a Bachelor of Business Informatics is a professional worker who knows how to design, create, implement corporate information systems, as well as carry out analysis and the necessary support.

    Demand for specialists

    Speaking of species professional activity, it is worth noting that according to statistics and experts' assessments, at the moment Russian market more than 150,000 lawyers, economists and managers are needed who would be directly related to information and communication technologies, while the aforementioned needs for specialists of this profile are currently only partially satisfied. For Russia, this is about 10,000 people annually. With such a growth rate of vacancies and employees, we can confidently assume that business informatics specialists will be needed for a long time and at once in many areas of activity.

    In addition, it is worth noting that broader prospects open up for bachelors of business informatics, in particular, work in a profession abroad, since according to the Bologna Declaration, the diploma received will be valid indefinitely and in any country that is a participant this process... This is just some information that makes it possible to understand what a wide and demanded range of activities brings with it the specialty of business informatics. Where to work later is up to you!

    The most common admission exams are:

    • Russian language
    • Mathematics (basic level)
    • Social studies - a core subject, at the choice of the university
    • Foreign language - at the choice of the university

    The core compulsory subject for admission is mathematics. In this subject, entrance exams are held or the results of the exam are taken into account. Additionally, the university offers three subjects for entrance examinations, of which the applicant can choose two that are closest to him. Most often, the choice is made among the Russian and in English, social studies. Some universities may independently choose two additional subjects.

    Business Informatics is one of the youngest majors that today's students are pursuing. However, despite its recent appearance, the specialty is characterized by excellent opportunities and prospects, both in terms of training and further professional activity and a highly paid position. This is definitely new profession, which has become necessary in those areas where knowledge of the basics of management, economics and information and communication technologies (ICT) is needed at the same time. Specialists who have received a diploma in this area are required in all areas of business.

    Brief description of the specialty

    Specialists who graduated from a higher educational institution with a bachelor's degree in business informatics can work as employees of a company in one of the groups involved in its development, and can also act as managers of various services and systems. This specialist has mastered economic knowledge, as well as in the field of law, management and ICT. He manages issues related to the design, implementation, analysis and maintenance of corporate information systems.

    The specialty implies several areas of training. As a rule, the following profiles are distinguished, which can be found in most universities teaching bachelors of business informatics:

    • Technological entrepreneurship;
    • Enterprise architecture;
    • Content management;
    • Electronic business.

    Terms and forms of training

    The specialty involves several forms of training. The most widespread form of study is full-time, which is offered by most universities. The duration of mastering the specialty in this case is 4 years. When choosing part-time, part-time forms of study or part-time days off, the duration of study increases to 5 years.

    Some schools accept applicants who have completed training on the basis of colleges and technical schools in this profile. In this case, full-time training lasts 3 years, and in other cases - 3.5 years.

    Subjects studied by students

    In the first years, most of the subjects studied by students belong to the category of natural science disciplines, and also provide basic training in the field of information technology:

    • information systems (IS) design,
    • architecture,
    • Informatics,
    • OS,
    • Database,
    • programming,
    • applied informatics in economics and others.

    In the early years, great importance was also paid to the disciplines of the general mathematical, economic and humanitarian direction:

    • mathematical logic,
    • linear algebra,
    • economic theory,
    • Discrete Math,
    • calculus,
    • network economy,
    • financial Accounting,
    • Probability theory,
    • sociology,
    • psychology and others.

    In the last two years of study, the course includes special disciplines that are closest to the specialty and allow you to get the knowledge that is necessary specifically for the specialists of this training profile. Among these disciplines are the following:

    Training: acquired knowledge and skills

    In the first years of study, students receive mainly theoretical knowledge and skills. This is an acquaintance with the techniques necessary to prepare an organization (enterprise) for automation, related to the design, implementation of IP, the operation of the ICT service, as well as the management, development and use of IP. This is followed by practical work, which is expressed in trainings conducted with the aim of teaching students to work with a variety of tools and systems (MS Project, MathCad, Delphi and others), i.e. do what was originally studied in theory.

    Future profession: by whom to work?

    Today the labor market is in great need of business informatics specialists. About ten thousand jobs in our country are annually waiting for university graduates to provide them with lucrative positions, and every year there is an acute shortage of such specialists. In addition, bachelors can try to find work in foreign countries, where specialists of this profile are also needed. First of all, we are talking about the countries participating in the Bologna Declaration, but not only.

    Jobs can be found in all fields related to ICT. These are any enterprises of the state and private level, NPO, OJSC and CJSC, scientific design and design organizations, bodies involved in social work and any other enterprise that requires specialists with the acquired knowledge.

    The Bachelor in Business Informatics can hold positions such as Programmer, Department Specialist, Managed by IT Department.

    Continuing education in the specialty

    Many higher education institutions offer graduates with a Bachelor's degree in Business Informatics to continue their studies in a Master's degree.

    If we talk about bachelor's degree, then

    What is Business Informatics?
    it seems that BI is a mixture of computer science, economics and management, and how exactly the mixing takes place is up to the university. In some places, the emphasis is on management, in others - on economic theory, in others - on economic matan, etc. If you need a specific conversation, then I think that there is no particular point in talking about the Russian BI, but it is necessary to talk about the BI in a specific university.
    If there are graduates of a similar direction here: comment on education and work
    2 acquaintances of the Bishnik-bachelor studied with a deeper understanding of economic theory, over a beer they like to chat not only on IT topics such as nosql or gpgpu, but also on economic topics such as hedge funds or GDP. They are IP specialists, using the work of freelancers, make sites on RoR (they did not teach rails at the university) for their clients, come up with their own project.
    Each university interprets it differently, different sites interpret it differently
    so as not to get confused in cunning interpretations, there is a simple life hack. To quickly find out what exactly is taught in BI (or any other specialty) in a certain university, you need to look 1) questions to the state in BI in this university (if they are not there, then it is most likely impossible to quickly find out what is taught there) and 2) themes theses graduates of previous years. Ideally, you need to watch the presentations from the defense of diplomas, this will clearly show what is practically taught here. Many universities do not upload presentations to the Internet, but they are usually stored in the internal department file storage, if a day open doors ask about the presentations of graduate students or simply write to the department, these presentations will be sent to you, if any.

    Let's try to quickly find the difference in the training of BI bachelors using the example of the state according to the first two results that Google gave me
    final exam at SibSUTI 2011 - mmbp.sibsutis.ru/docs/Programma_gos_bi.doc
    final exam at SUSU 2011 - is.susu.ac.ru/download/diplom/questuion_bi.pdf

    At SibSUTI, all questions are divided into the following 6 subsections
    1. Programming
    2. Databases
    3. Economic and mathematical models and methods
    4. Information systems and technologies
    5. Modeling and analysis of business processes
    6. Design and architecture of corporate information systems

    At SUSU, all questions are divided into the following 7 subsections
    1. Computer science and programming
    2. Reengineering of business processes
    3. Databases
    4. Design of information systems
    5. Strategic management
    6. Personnel management
    7. Data warehouses

    Everything is about the same, the main choice in this case is between "Economic and mathematical models and methods" at SibSUTI and "Strategic management" + "Personnel management" at SUSU.

    The imperfection of modern information technologies, inherent in everything new and rapidly developing, requires quite high level training in this area. There are many examples when projects of ready-made or custom-designed Corporate Information Systems at the stages of implementation and operation end in failure. The main reason for such failures is the lack of specialists who organically combine knowledge in engineering, economics, management and information technology.

    The processes of globalization of the world, determined to a large extent by the rapid development of information technologies (IT), dictate new rules for doing business and new approaches to organizing and managing production. Telecommunications, communications and information processing have reached such a level when the management of individual enterprises and entire industrial sectors has become possible from the standpoint of managing a single “living organism”. Enterprise information systems have become corporate information systems (CIS) and provide "transparency" in the conduct of business at all levels of management. The presence of corporate information systems in companies makes it possible to quickly respond to changes in external and internal conditions for doing business, increases its profitability in comparison with generally accepted traditional approaches, and makes an "informatized company" attractive for investment. In addition, one should not forget about the need for integration into the world market, which is impossible without a Quality Management System in accordance with ISO standards 9000.

    Today in Russia there are about 60 destinations vocational training in the field of IT and more than 50 - in the field of economics and management. But, as practice has shown, none of them is capable of forming synthetic knowledge at the intersection of these areas. Attempts to “mechanically” bring the missing disciplines into traditional university training departments tend to fail. As a result, society gets either specialists with shallow knowledge in IT and completely superficial in management and economics, or with shallow knowledge in management and economics and completely superficial in IT. As Kozma Prutkov wrote: “A specialist is like a gumboil. Its completeness is one-sided. "

    Thus, the modern Information society requires specialists with complex, specially formed and organically combined knowledge of economics, management and law, possessing theoretical foundations and practical skills in analytical decision support, conceptual design of corporate information systems, design management and IT implementation. Modern society requires information systems specialists - Business Software Applications Specialist.

    It is the synthesis of knowledge at the intersection of various subject areas and defines the unity of the words "Business" and "Informatics" in the name of the new educational direction of the Department of "Information Systems" of South Ural State University. And the task of this department is to eliminate this "flux" according to K. Prutkov.

    State standards and training programs for business informatics are new not only for Russian higher education. They have no analogues in western system higher professional training, where economic disciplines and the basics of management, graduates of IT specialties master, as a rule, at the stage of obtaining additional education in specialized schools. Foreign and domestic industry leaders officially announced their support for this educational area: Microsoft, IBS, IBM, SAP, Computer Association, Lanit, Krok, 1C, InterSoft Lab.

    Educational and methodological association, headed by the Faculty of Business Informatics State University graduate School economy, has already entered into partnership agreements with these companies. And this is no coincidence.

    The qualification of a business informatics allows him to plan, manage and coordinate activities in the field of creation, implementation and operation of corporate information systems, allows him to competently solve the following tasks:

    • planning and organization of information systems;
    • operation and maintenance of information systems;
    • analytical support for decision-making in business management;
    • planning and organizing the execution of IT projects of high complexity.

    The objects of professional activity of business informatics are:

      • programs and software components of information systems;
      • languages and systems for programming information systems;
      • tasks for the modification, optimization and development of information systems,

    tools for documenting, describing, analyzing and modeling information and communication processes in information systems;

    • project management tools;
    • standards and methods for organizing management, accounting and reporting at enterprises.

    The organization of the educational process in this educational area corresponds to the principles of the Bologna process, of which Russia became a participant in 2003. The educational process is built according to the 4 + 2 scheme:

    1. first stage of higher education (4 years), qualification - Bachelor of Business Informatics and
    2. second stage (2 years), qualification - Master of Business Informatics.

    At the first stage of higher education, the fundamental knowledge of a specialist is ensured, and in a two-year master's program, functionally-oriented training is carried out. In the junior courses of the first stage of preparation, the main focus is on the natural sciences, basic training in the field of information technology (computer science and programming, databases, information systems design), general mathematical disciplines (mathematical analysis, linear algebra, discrete mathematics, probability theory and mathematical statistics) , economic (economic theory, financial and management accounting) and humanitarian disciplines. Specialized disciplines such as logistics, personnel management, strategic management, information law, modeling and optimization of business processes, architecture of corporate information systems, software lifecycle management, information security, etc., appear in the third and fourth courses.

    The knowledge and skills obtained at the first stage are basic and therefore more theoretical. These are methodologies related to preparing an enterprise for automation, designing, implementing information systems, organizing an IT service, managing and operating information systems, and managing development. The acquisition of practical skills is limited to training to master the various tools and systems that support theoretical courses, for example, MS Project, CASE technologies, Aris, Borland Builder C ++ and Delphi, FrameWork and Dot net, etc. Specialists who have received a bachelor's degree are prepared to work as part of a team of performers, as well as as service and system managers.

    The functionally-oriented second stage of training aims at in-depth study of practical business problems, the formation of practical skills in analytical, consulting, research or scientific and pedagogical activities. Unlike the first degree, studying proccess in magistracy is based on practical work students in the staff of IT companies, supported by full-time in-depth individual theoretical training at the university. The range of economic and management disciplines for masters expands, knowledge is deepened in accordance with the chosen area of specialization of an IT company:

    • modeling and optimization of business processes;
    • IT consulting;
    • design and implementation of information systems;
    • control information resources enterprises;
    • business analytics of information processes;
    • IT innovation and business.

    The graduate of the master's degree is prepared to lead a group of executors, the IT department, he can perform the functions of a top manager for the organization and management of an IT business.

    More recently, the shortage of personnel in the leaders of the IT industry and industrial companies was satisfied by the outbidding of qualified personnel by one company from another. But now the prices have risen, and there is no one to outbid. And the organization of an in-house system of training and retraining of specialists requires too much expenditure, too much money needs to be invested in its development. According to estimates of domestic and foreign experts, only the Russian labor market today requires about 150 thousand lawyers, "managers" and economists, and up to 10% of this business is directly related to information technology. Business informatics specialists are in demand in all areas of business in which information and communication technologies are applied. To date, the unmet need for such specialists in Russia alone amounts to about 10 thousand people a year. In addition, in accordance with the Bologna Declaration, a diploma of any country participating in the process is valid without restrictions in all participating countries, for bachelors and masters of Business Informatics, not only the domestic, but also foreign labor market of information technologies opens up.

    Business Informatics: Prospects for the Development of this Direction

    Hello, dear readers of the "Anatomy of Business" project! With you, as always, webmaster Alexander!
    We are living in a truly amazing time. New technologies are developing every day faster and faster. 15 years ago mobile phones were a luxury and something obscure, and now they are replacing entire libraries and communication centers, without them it is impossible to imagine a full life, pay bills, quickly contact friends and relatives. And this is just one example, and there are millions of them. What is the Internet alone, because its invention and implementation marked a new era in the development of all mankind. Information Technology dictate reality modern world... Several years ago, good lawyers, economists, managers, sales agents were in demand on the labor market. Now the palm has been taken by IT specialists, system administrators, web builders and designers, and, by the way, all those who are associated with the field of Internet technologies.

    The education sector is also undergoing transformation, trying to meet the needs of the market and the interests of the younger generation. In the institutes, there are areas of study that were previously unknown. One of these areas is business informatics. According to Yandex Wordstat statistics, more than 10,000 users a month make a request "business informatics"
